For the third year in a row, together as a team,
we raised over $100,000.00 for neglected and abused children in our community.

Our thoughts are with all our friends and patrons. We hope you and your families are well and continue to stay safe. We also hope the recovery of any losses you may have suffered will be complete and come soon.

At this time, we do not know if we will have a 2021 event. However, in the meantime, please don’t forget the children in our community and if it is possible, continue to support the MHB charities by donating to Kosair Charities or Maryhurst.

  • Kentucky is ranked #1 for child abuse in
    the nation. In 2017 alone, 22,410 children
    were victims of abuse and neglect.

  • Over 73,000 children were reached through advocacy and social services at Kosair Charities supported agencies.

  • In 2018, 486 kids and families were
    served at Maryhurst.

KOSAIR CHARITIES

Since 1923, Kosair Charities has worked to show children their potential instead of their obstacles. In 2012, Kosair Charities founded The Face It® Movement as a response to the public outcry against the increasing number of child abuse deaths in Kentucky. The movement is comprised of over 80 partners, including Maryhurst, with one goal in mind: to end child abuse.

The children, families, and non-profit organizations of this community have experienced tremendous strain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kosair Charities is committed to ensuring the children of Kentucky and Southern Indiana have the care and support they need to be happy, healthy, and safe. In response to the devastating effects of the pandemic, Kosair Charities has amended our grants program process and timeline to better serve the immediate needs of our community partners. Our partner agencies are experiencing unprecedented challenges and we intend to utilize our limited resources to provide support necessary keep their doors open, lights on, and programs up and running for the children of our community.

As communities begin to reopen, we anticipate a significant rise in applications for direct financial support through the Kosair Kids Financial Assistance Program. The program is designed to help with medical bills of children 17 and under or still attending high school, whose families cannot afford to pay. Children who have delayed or experienced an interruption in their medical care or therapy will likely need our help more than ever. Please consider making a gift to the Kosair Kids Financial Assistance Program to help families in need pay for medical bills, therapy, equipment, and more.

MARYHURST

Maryhurst is the longest-operating child welfare nonprofit in the state of Kentucky serving kids and families who are hurting. Together, its continuum of therapeutic services prevents abuse, restores hope, and empowers survivors.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has presented extraordinary and unique challenges for Maryhurst.  Your support is needed now than ever to help ensure that Maryhurst can continue providing unparalleled services to children and families impacted by trauma, abuse and neglect.  

Proceeds from the 2020 Miller High Ball will go directly to areas that are incurring exceptional cost increases because of the pandemic:

  • Protective equipment for staff including gloves, masks and gowns

  • Increased sanitation efforts for both facilities and staff at all of our locations

  • “Hero Pay” for our amazing staff who continue to show up and work with young people diagnosed with COVID-19

  • Supplies for kids while they are out of school like art supplies, outdoor activities, and games

  • Staff appreciation efforts during this stressful time like meals, care packages, and snacks.
